To reach the goal of Best-Run Government and to live up to the True North vision of making King County a welcoming community where every person can thrive, people-leaders in every area of the county (from front line supervisors to agency directors) must be the best they can be. But what does exemplary leadership look and feel like in a Best Run Government? That’s exactly what Leading in Best-Run Government is all about.

Register now to secure your spot for the 2023-24 cohort (which begins with a kickoff session in September).

Through this program, you will:

  • Learn how to more frequently exhibit the leadership behaviors that are proven to drive higher levels of productivity and team engagement

  • Increase your emotional intelligence and learn how to communicate more effectively with everyone around you, including those who think and act very differently

  • Recognize actions you can take to advance the principles of Equity and Social Justice (ESJ) and other King County priorities

  • Engage and network with fellow participants, made up of leaders from across King County

  • Become a better version of yourself

This program is a 12-month journey, designed to not only build awareness and understanding, but to influence you to experiment with new ideas and build powerful new leadership habits. In other words, this isn’t “just a training program” but rather an experience that will challenge your thinking and push you to become a better version of you.

Over 150 King County leaders participated in the 2022-23 cohort of Leading in Best-Run Government. Here is what a few of them had to say about the program:

Chauntelle Hellner, Director of King County DES Fleet Services:

"I highly recommend the Leading in Best-Run Government development program for anyone looking to grow their leadership capabilities. Integris put together a very thoughtful course, giving attendees a common language with behaviors and actions that are applicable to everyone, regardless of your role in your organization.

As busy government employees, we often do not dedicate enough time to focus on individual leadership growth. This course is worth the time and effort to grow, build self-awareness, and get more comfortable giving and receiving feedback."

Casey Tomich, Senior Business Analyst at King County DES Fleet Services:

"I was hesitant at first, but I was quickly won over. The assessments helped me identify my growth opportunities, and the presenters, discussions, and examples captured and held my attention.

Most importantly, I learned about myself as a person, not just as a business leader."
